About Norrgården

Welcome home to Norrgården, our Hälsingegård.

At least fourteen generations have lived here and worked the farm hard, with Erich Michelsson in the 1550s as the first known owner. Today's house on Norrgården was built in 1881-1884 by Karin Hansdotter and her husband Anders Isak Pehrsson. In the picture at the entrance to the house from 1927, their son Jonas Andersson and his wife Hedda are standing to the left of the ladder. As you can see, Norrgården has been a welcoming place over the years, where many have worked and felt at home. 

We have had the opportunity to enjoy and develop the historic environment since autumn 2024. Of course we want to share, so we invite you and your company to experience the place and the region.

We offer a home with a late 19th century feel, with elements from every decade since. The well-to-do farmhouse was decorated in the fine style of the time, when vernacular paintings were no longer fashionable. Instead, our upper hall and lower parlour have shimmering gold original wallpaper and stately tiled stoves. At the same time, it is an old farmhouse. The rustic meets the elegant, the descendants of previous families who lived here. Mirrored doors, beautiful floorboards, wonderfully worn thresholds and handles, shower and toilet with wet room wallpaper from the 1980s, kitchen from the 2000s. Furniture and personalised decor with a sense of times gone by.

There is much that we want to carefully restore, at the same time much that we never want to change to preserve the patina of previous generations on the farm. The garden, and the farmhouse need a lot of love.

We welcome you to a restful place in a lively village. The terrace and garden with breathtaking views of meadows, shimmering Ljusnan and blue mountains create a peaceful place. It is also a living village, we live in the centre of the village.

Our own connection to the area comes from Karin's grandmother Ruth, who was born in Arbrå, where Karin's father Sven now lives. Karin's family has holiday homes in Prästänge, just north of Norrgården, since the time of her grandmother Ruth and grandfather Gösta.
